2009 Retreat General Information
LOCATION:
Camp Henry Horner is located in Ingleside in the northern metropolitan Chicago area, about one hour north of downtown Chicago. It is easily accessible by a network of state and interstate highway. The scenic facility is surrounded by woods, large open fields, and nature trails.
CAMP FACILITIES AND ACCOMMODATION:
A total of 3 heated lodges with 180 plus newer bunk beds, pillows and mattresses (without sheets and blankets) are available in the campsite. Each lodge is equipped with bathrooms with wash basins and flush toilets. There are also shower facilities in the lodges. The facilities are comparable to hotels with modern amenities. All are encouraged to stay in these facilities.
FOOD SERVICE:
Friday: Dinner (Light Snacks and Beverages only) [served FREE for all]
Saturday/Sunday: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks and Beverages
Monday: Breakfast and Lunch (packed to go)
WHAT TO BRING:
Bedding: Mandatory items: Bed sheets, blankets, pillows cases
Toiletries: Bath towel, wash cloth, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb/brush, shaving kit
Other: Flashlight, umbrella, prescription medicine, insect repellent, jackets, sweater, Comfortable shoes,
Optional:
Camera (safety of these items is your responsibility). Please do not bring video cameras to record the program, due to space limitations.
Audio media of the entire program will be available at the retreat.
DRESS CODE:
Same as at Prasanthi Nilayam. Shorts and abbreviated dresses are not permitted. Please inform your guests about our custom!
TRANSPORTATION:
If flying, please use O’Hare airport as it is closer to the campsite. If coming by Air / Train, please call Krishna Haldipurkar (630) 460-6861 or Nagarjun Batchu (630) 890-4440 at least a week in advance.
If unable to call in advance, please use shuttle bus from O’Hare to Gurnee Mills. From Gurnee Mills, please call us for a ride to the campsite:

ACTIVITIES:
Weather permitting, the camp staff will organize special outdoor activities for children such as Canoeing, Archery, Camp-fire, etc. Please pack appropriate clothing.
