Subject: 2010 Region 5 Retreat. Multiple ways to Register (Online or Mail-in; pay by Card, Check, or request Scholarship)

Sai Ram Dear Center Presidents,

With Swami's Grace, we launched our Retreat website with Online Registration on 7/27/10. We now added Mail-in Registration Forms on our website.

The link to this year's Retreat Registration page is prominently placed on the home page of our Regional Website: www.sathyasaicenters.org

Please share this Message widely with all the members in your center and encourage them to register as soon as possible by registering online at www.sathyasaicenters.org.

While we prefer all Attendees to use our Online Registration, we do anticipate some members who may not be comfortable with Online Registration. If any of your Center Members are not comfortable with this process, please extend necessary help to them. You may designate a Volunteer to provide this as a service to those Center Members who need such help. Essentially there are three ways one can register:

1. Online Registration and Online Payment using Credit Card by the Members themselves.

Important: Please reach out to members who need help with their Retreat Registration. Please make some Printed Registration Forms available at your Center for use by the members who want to mail the Forms along with their Checks.

Please find the following PDF documents attached to this email message. These are also available on our Retreat website whose link is published on our Regional Home page at www.sathyasaicenters.org
  1. 2010 Retreat Invitation
  2. 2010 Retreat Program
  3. 2010 Retreat SSE Program
  4. 2010 Retreat Mail-in Registration Form

Please contact our Registration Team at retreat@sathyasaicenters.org if you have any questions.

2010 Region 5 Annual Sai Retreat Invitation

Embodiments of Divine Love and Light,

Sai Ram!

On behalf of the North Central Regional officers, Conference Coordinators, and Conveners, we invite all of you for the 20th North Central Region Sai Conference and Retreat, with great enthusiasm and love.

The Theme for the Retreat is "Finding God Within". Swami says, "God is omnipresent. There is no place where you do not find God. God is always with you, in you, above you, below you. You must feel the presence of God wherever you go, whatever you may do, whether you are eating or speaking or working." Though it is easy to understand this intellectually, it is difficult to experience until we make sincere attempts through Sadhana (spiritual practices) to find God within. This Retreat, together with the Study Circles preceding the Retreat, provides us with a great opportunity to practice Swami's teachings and continuously improve our ability to find and connect with God within.

Sylvia Alden: We are fortunate to have Sylvia Alden as our Guest Speaker this year. She was brought up on a farm in the mid-western part of the United States. She is blessed by Swami to play the role of Choir Director for the Prasanthi Christmas adult choir and other international choirs. Initially, she struggled with beliefs about Jesus that she was taught as a child. She had a healing experience of Divine love in the presence of Sathya Sai Baba that helped her understand how she could live a Christ-like life. In 1978, she made her first journey to the Beloved Divine Feet of Swami. She says, "Swami’s teachings are universal. They allowed me to look more objectively at the teachings of the Christian religion. His discourses on the life of Jesus brought the real Jesus to life for me."

Christian Moevs: We are proud to have Christian Moevs from our region as the Guest Speaker. He was born from an Italian mother and an American father.  He studied philosophy at Harvard, received a PhD in Italian literature from Columbia, and since 1994 has taught at the University of Notre Dame.  He has won prizes both for teaching and for his book on the medieval poet Dante, The Metaphysics of Dante’s Comedy.  Currently he is writing a book on Dante and mysticism.  A Catholic from birth, Christian’s life changed when he met Sai Baba in 1991.  In the same year he met Don Mario Mazzoleni, and translated his book, A Catholic Priest Meets Sai Baba.  Over the past twenty years, Christian has made a dozen trips to India, served as the President of the South Bend Sai Center, taught SSE at all levels, and given a number of talks on spiritual subjects.

We are making every effort to make the Retreat truly inspiring and enjoyable to all. This Retreat will be a great opportunity to meet with hundreds of other Sai devotees from all Sai Centers in the Region. It will be a very memorable experience for all the devotees, because of the variety in programs to address the theme, while allowing enough time for leisurely interaction with the rest of the Sai family.

Please register early and help the organizing team to serve you better. You may register online using our secure website. If you need any help with registration fee or transportation, please let us know when you register.

Sairam Friends:

The 85 hours of special bhajans will start immediately and will be organized by the Center coordinators.

  • These bhajans will be in addition to our weekly Center activities every Sunday.
  • The special bhajans will be held at devotees homes either on Thursday, Friday or Saturday for a period of 2 hours starting around 6pm or 7pm.
  • Other than some fruits or nuts as prasadam, devotees are encouraged NOT to serve dinner or other type of food items. ( Note: Should a host family decide to serve food, then it would be entirely their responsibility. Center coordinators will not organize such tasks).

CINDAY SAI CENTER COORDINATORS

"Bhajan is one of the processes by which one can train the mind to expand eternal values. It induces a higher sense of discipline, understanding, cooperation and unity within everyone and allows one to better experience Truth, glimpse Beauty and taste Bliss that is Self. It encourages one to dwell upon oneself and be genuinely his real self. Once that search is desired, the spiritual path is easy. Bhajans are therefore supremely valuable".                                                                                                                                                           Rules of Engagement for 85 Hour special Bhajan:

In the words of Swami....... " Bhajan is Sankirthanam. Sankirtanam involves a community of people singing together the Glory of God in perfect unity and harmony. The singing must originate from the heart, not from the lips or tongue and must be a spontaneous manifestation of the inner ecstasy seeking no admiration and appreciation from others. Such bhajans coming from the heart cleanses a polluted atmosphere and invites all to spread good will, love, peace and joy. The Ananda derived from bhajans cannot be derived from anywhere."

 Why offer Bhajans?

As you know, the year 2010 marks the 85th year of Shree Sathya Sai Baba Avathar. In order to celebrate these Holy times and feel the energy of His Divine Grace, many wonderful events are being planned around the world in 2010. These events will culminate in a spectacular offering of reverence and thanksgiving to our Loving Swami on Nov 23rd, 2010, at Prasanthi Nilayam. In keeping with the worldwide celebrations, we at CINDAY Sai Center will dedicate 85 hours of Special Bhajans to thank our Lord for His Grace, Love and Guidance to all of us.
