"The Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) program is the primary basis of the great movement to restore dharma (righteousness) in the world. The elders are far gone in their ways, and it is difficult to expect change in their habits and attitudes. Children have to be led into good ways of living, into simplicity, humility and discipline. The parents have to be persuaded lovingly, through the example of bright, cheerful and co-operating children from the SSE classes, to send their children also to these classes. As you know, you cannot draw children to your side if you hold a stick in your hand; you will have to hold some sweets instead. So the Gurus have to be embodiments of love and patience.
 
The ideal of the SSE program is to raise a generation of boys and girls who have a clean and clear conscience. The actual syllabus is not so important as the creation of an atmosphere where noble habits and ideals can grow and fructify. The SSE students follow SSE discipline and curriculum only for one day in the week and attend their usual schools on the other days. So the impact of the Teacher has got to be extra strong if it has to act as a catalyst in the process of modification of the behaviour patterns of these pupils." - Baba

Welcome to the home page of "Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) Teachers Training" at Cincinnati-Dayton!

Here is a great opportunity to acquire or enhance your skills in teaching Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) classes at your Sai Center.

Our beloved National Education Coordinator, Berniece Mead, will be conducting this SSE Teacher Training Session. You are not authorized to teach SSE classes until you successfully complete a formal SSE Teacher Training. Attending the SSE Teacher Training course by Berniece Mead is the best opportunity to acquire / enhance your knowledge and skills in this area.

You can easily get the curriculum and lesson plans by reading the SSE Manual. But Berniece Mead's course is much more than merely imparting knowledge and skills; it is all about deriving  the divine inspiration from the indweller of your heart so that you can effectively  'bring out the latent human values' from the hearts of the little angels (SSE students). Until you, the SSE teachers, are filled with love from top to toes, until you are filled with deep devotion and love for Sai, you will not be able to transform your 'bookish knowledge' into 'practical knowledge' - which is the fundamental requirement for successful SSE classes.

Berniece Mead's courses will strengthen your love and devotion to Swami. She will dispel any questions / doubts you may have about SSE classes. She will help you identify strategies to address various situations you may encounter in:
-planning and teaching SSE classes. 
-encouraging 'spiritual' part of SSE classes, 
-balancing teaching spiritual  values / human values vs. 'religious' prayers
-involving parents in the spiritual education of their children

The training is scheduled for two days:
Saturday: August 22, 2009:  9 AM - 5 PM  
Sunday: August 23, 2009:  8:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Lunch and snacks during breaks will be served to all participants.

The official Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) Teacher's Manual is an essential resource for all SSE Teachers. If you have a copy of the SSE Manual, please bring it with you. If you don't have one, please either get one from the Sathya Sai Book Center in Tustin, California or you may order it as part of your registration on this website; we will order it and keep it ready for your use during your training. We must place the order with the Tustin Bookstore no later than August 3rd to ensure deliver in time for the training sessions. Therefore we cannot accept orders for manuals after that date.
