ST. LOUIS, Missouri

The Young Adults of the Mid-Central region of U.S. were blessed with an opportunity to share our beloved Bhagawan’s love by helping a flood affected region in Missouri. The Cherokee Lake Camp in O’Fallon, MO was flooded in June 2008. Sandbags were used to levee the campsite to protect it from severe flooding. As the water levels receded, the YA’s coordinated a service project to help clean the campsite by removing the wet sandbags.

Forty-two YA’s and adults came together in this effort. As the vanaras formed a chain to build the bridge to Lanka, the Sai vanaras formed a human chain to pass the sandbags to the designated location, empty them into a mound of sand, and pick up the debris around. As the mound got bigger, the difficulty to carry the bags got higher. Sensing the tiredness in the volunteers, few YA’s sang bhajans pouring their heart to Swami. The amount of love generated was so high that the work scheduled for day and half got done in less than a day. Every volunteer felt touched with Swami’s love in his/her own personal way. Each one received a special invaluable gem from the Sai treasury in their hearts.
